Explanation

There's a pandemic, and we are all at war. With the invisible virus; with our governments; and, for some, with ourselves. Isolation is like no man's land. A country that belongs to no one, yet has managed to trap everyone inside its borders. The lull that we may feel here is deceptive - there is always danger lurking. Be it the virus waiting to infect us as soon as we step outside the front door to go for a walk. Be it the economy slowly crashing around us while we stretch out and work in our pyjamas. Our new routine is filled with paradox. Peace and rage. Inspiration and desperation. Connected isolation. Here are twelve poems that came to me, both to save me and to drown me during the first three weeks of lockdown. May they cheer you up, enrage you, inspire you and console you.
