Advocating for an amoral, although not immoral egoism. In the first part of the book he separates life in three stages (Childhood, Youth and Adulthood). He argues that children are restricted by external material forces and upon reaching the stage of youth they learn how to overcome these restrictions by what he calls“self-discovery of mind”. But after that comes the stage of youth where people become restricted by reason and conscience, including religion and nationalism. And in the final stage of adulthood, people become freed from all restrictions attaining individual autonomy or what he calls “egoism”.This Graphyco edition includes over 50 historical and biographical footnotes.Those notes have the goal to make the book easier to understand.Johann Kaspar Schmidt (1806-1856) or also known as Max Stirner, was a German philosopher who is often considered as one of the pioneers in anarchism, nihilism, existentialism and postmodernism.
